Alyse Hand (she/her) started her broadcasting career in 2008, and has spent the better part of the last 15 years working at two of the country’s top television news stations; CTV Atlantic, and Global News Maritimes.

Over the years she has reported on some of the top stories in the region, interviewed hundreds of people, anchored newscasts, and delivered weather forecasts both locally and nationally— her colleagues would often jokingly refer to her as a “one-woman TV station”.

In 2018, Alyse took a year-long hiatus from television to work at a public relations firm in Halifax. Aware of her media background, the firm asked her to help with one of their service offerings- media training. Clients would often say it helped to have an experienced broadcaster, who understood the current media landscape, facilitating the sessions. When she left the agency to return to broadcasting, Alyse set a personal goal to one-day start a business that teaches clients how to better-understand media and how to become an effective communicator on camera. ON-Q Communications was born three years later.

Alyse lives in Halifax, and has called the Maritimes home for her entire life. Her hobbies include cooking, running, and she is constantly trying to improve her green thumb. She enjoys travel, she’ll never turn down pasta, and is happiest when she is with her friends and family.
